About the Organ Procuremant Organizations
Center for Organ Recovery & Education
The Center for Organ Recovery & Education (CORE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting donation, education and research for the purpose of saving and improving the quality of life through organ, tissue and corneal transplantation. In partnership with area hospitals, CORE serves as the link between those who donate and patients waiting for organ and tissue transplants. Since 1977, CORE has coordinated more than 300,000 organ and tissue transplants for patients in its region of western Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Chemung County, New York.
Gift of Life Donor Program
For the past eight years, Gift of Life Donor Program has coordinated more organ donations than any other program in the United States. Since 1974, Gift of Life has served as the link between donors and patients awaiting life-saving transplants, coordinating over 23,000 vital organ transplants and tens of thousands of tissue transplants. Gift of Life is the primary source of information regarding all aspects of organ and tissue donation and transplantation for approximately 10 million people and 150 hospitals in eastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey and Delaware.

CORE and Gift of Life Outreach
In addition to their clinical activities, CORE and Gift of Life devote significant resources to raising awareness and understanding of the donation process. Along with offering programs in churches, schools, civic and business groups, CORE and Gift of Life have a variety of programs tailored to healthcare professionals.
