Giving The Precious Gift of Life
Andrea ResslarI faced a mother's worst nightmare on November 16, 2002, when my daughter Andrea was in a fatal car accident, just a few months before her 17th birthday. No words could ever describe the pain our family felt losing our sweet, beautiful Andrea. The fact that she was a designated organ and tissue donor has helped to ease that pain.
I remember when she was applying for her driver's license and asked if she should check the "Organ Donor" box. I told her it was up to her and she asked if I was a designated organ donor. I said yes, and Andrea decided to do the same. I never thought I'd have to face the consequences of her decision.
Andrea was a beautiful, blue-eyed girl - kind, giving and generous. I'm proud that she made the decision to become an organ and tissue donor. It is wonderful to hear from the recipients and know that they are doing so well. It's comforting to know that part of Andrea lives on because she gave the precious gift of life to seven people.
