How to make cookie dough?

Shortbread cookies are delicacies that are worth making regardless of the season. We usually bake them in autumn afternoons and of course at Christmas, but in the summer they are also delicious for milkshakes. Shortbread cookies can be made by children and adults – it is a lot of fun! How to make cookie dough?

What to buy?

  • 250 g wheat flour
  • 120 g icing sugar
  • 125 g butter
  • 2 tablespoons of cocoa
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • pinch of salt

How to prepare?

  • Heat the oven to 180 degrees.
  • Cover the baking tray with baking paper.
  • Add flour to the board or bowl, add salt and baking powder.
  • Add chopped butter, egg, powdered sugar. Mix everything, knead with your hands.
  • When the dough begins to stick, divide into 2 parts. Form one part into a ball, wrap it in foil and put in the fridge.

    How to make cookie dough?
  • Add cocoa to the second part of the dough, knead in a bowl until the dough has a uniform color. Shape them into a ball, wrap in foil and put in the fridge for an hour.
  • After an hour, roll out both parts, sprinkle a little flour on the countertop.
  • Prepare cookie cutters – smaller and larger (e.g. big and small stars, hearts, circles).
  • Cut out large cakes from both masses at the beginning.
  • Then cut another hole in the center of the biscuits with a smaller mold.
  • And now: you can bake large cookies with a hole and the tiny ones separately, or you can put small cookies of chocolate color in the middle of the bright ones and vice versa.
  • Transfer these two-colored cakes to a baking tray. Bake for about 12 minutes.


Shortbread cookies are a simple recipe that we can do with basic gadgets in the kitchen. A board or a larger wooden board will be useful – the shortcrust pastry should be smooth and evenly rolled out.
